EU to extend sanctions against Russia by six months

Brussels, Mar 13, (Prensa Latina) The Council of the European Union (EU) on Monday announced it will extend sanctions against 1,473 Russian individuals and 205 entities for six more months.

The document added these measures provide for travel restrictions, freezing of assets and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to the listed individuals and entities.

According to economists, Russia is the world´s most-sanctioned nation. Since February 2022, more than 11,000 new restrictive measures were imposed on Russia, in addition to the nearly 2,700 others already in force.

Recently, the Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov pointed out that the the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) cooperation explicitly placed Europe in a subordinate position to that warmongering Alliance.

The Russian foreign minister also condemned that demonization, blackmail, sanctions, threat of force and the Western line of destroying the traditional relations of historical partners are means used by the United States against its rivals.
