“As IAEA founding member since 1957, Ethiopia has over the years enhanced its collaboration with the agency and is too committed to and strongly supportive of the agency’s mandates,” Molla stated, while reaffirming his country´s readiness to collaborate and promote technical cooperation with IAEA in key socio-economic sectors including agriculture, food security, health, water resources management, environment, manufacturing, power generation, among others.
In this regard, Molla announced a group of steps for setting up the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST) to sustainably manage this sector.
“We´re outlaying on research and development, building necessary infrastructure and developing policies and programs to support innovative companies and entrepreneurs in all sectors,” Molla added.
IAEA´s Deputy Director-General and Head of Technical Cooperation Department Hua Liu, on the other hand, stressed the meeting is aimed at boosting efficiency and effectiveness of the technical cooperation program in Africa.
