The meeting will focus on disinformation and hate discourses, and will denounce the effects of the United States blockade against Cuba in digital platforms.
At the opening ceremony of the meeting, Casa de las Americas President Abel Prieto talked about the challenges of the region’s left in the communicational battle and the cultural war, in addition to the need to articulate forces with common objectives.
“We are in a better moment than on other occasions to work on concrete actions, defend ourselves and go on the offensive, defend our agenda and disprove fallacies,” Prieto said.
Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Organization Secretary Roberto Morales, PCC Central Committee Secretary Rogelio Polanco, Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso, and Association of Cuban Journalists President Ricardo Ronquillo, among other state and Government officials, preside over the event.
The Colloquium, included in the celebrations on the Cuban Press Day, will end on Tuesday with a political event and a concert on the stairs of the University of Havana.
