The head of Cuban diplomacy wrote on his Twitter account that the US is the only country that has not ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
He referred to an investigation published in the New York Times that reveals the exploitation and human rights violations suffered by children, who work 12 hours a day in dangerous and exhausting jobs.
The investigation explains that that the children are part of a new economy of exploitation and work in some of the toughest trades in the country.
It adds that this clandestine workforce extends to sectors in all states, circumventing child labor laws that have been in force for nearly a century.
