According to the Ministry, the military intelligence services detected enemy troops advancing in the direction of the defense line established between the People’s Republic of Lugansk and the Ukrainian territory of Kharkiv.

A paratrooper brigade from the ‘North’ group of Russian forces was mobilized and engaged the Ukrainian forces for several hours, ultimately defeating them and eliminating the attempted counteroffensive against Lugansk.

The Ukrainian forces suffered numerous losses in the course of the fighting and failed to advance beyond the line of contact, the Defense Ministry said.
