As part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day, the management of the High School of Athlete Training (Esfaar) Giraldo Cordova Cardin, together with the University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences (Uccfd Manuel Fajardo) organized the event.
The opening of the gathering was attended the day before by the Cuban 4×400 meters flat team, winners of the title in the global relay race held in Poland in 2021: Zurian Hechavarría, Rosmery Almanza, Lisneidy Veitía and Roxana Gómez, together with their main coach, Ricardo Molina.
This was a result achieved with a lot of sacrifice, Molina said when analyzing the triumph obtained, since the quartet from the island was not the favourite.
Meanwhile, Melix Ilisastigui, the highest authority in science, technology and environment at the National Sports Institute (Inder), spoke about the impact and participation of the athletes since their presence in the first events abroad, until today.
On the same day, Arlin Pérez, professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana, gave a lecture on Women, gender and law in the new scenario of Cuban criminal law. Meanwhile, Margarita Mayeta made a presentation on the impact of women’s baseball since she took over the direction of the discipline in 2003.
