“We are going ahead with the military operation, as there are no prerequisites for any peaceful course to settle the conflict. Russia is ready to fulfill its tasks and achieve its goals through increased military defense,” the spokesman stressed.
Peskov emphasized that the Chinese State seeks to mediate in the political-military crisis between the Moscow and Kiev governments, as putting a final solution to the conflict is also in Beijing’s interest.
“Let’s remember that China is a big and powerful country, and its position is to put forward solutions and establish balance given the current moment,” he stressed.
Referring to the place this issue could occupy in the upcoming talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, he emphasized that the two countries are in constant contact at several levels.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, to protect the Donbas population and demilitarize Kiev.
