Sunday, March 5, was declared as deadline for which the 12 legally registered parties were called to elect candidates for the 2024 elections, according to the calendar issued by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

Debates opened on Monday in different programs including “Frente a Frente” of Telecorporación Salvadoreña de Televisión, where questions about constitutionality of forums that will govern the elections were reiterated.

Some, such as Eduardo Escobar, executive director of Acción Ciudadana, expressed the opinion that President Nayib Bukele is not qualified to compete.

The stage to take political institutes to internal elections begins from now on, and their affiliates will choose candidates to represent them in the 2024 elections that will take place on February 4 and March 3.
