Burkinabe protesters demand immediate French troops’ withdrawal

Ouagadougou, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of Burkinabe protesters reportedly asked the French Army, in front of the military camp of Kamboisin, near Ouagadougou, to speed up the withdrawal of its forces from this African territory.

Amid the recent protests, Moumoni Randé, secretary general of the Group of Pan-African leaders, expressed that the last French troops must leave the country immediately after the provisional government of Burkina Faso demanded their withdrawal.

In late January, the Executive branch in Burkina Faso ended the agreement regulating in this territory the presence of French troops, in force since 2018 and who were supposedly fighting against radical Islamist groups in the Sahel strip.

Emmanuel Juiles, an activist of a civic group in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently considered following a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to that nation that many in Africa condemn the colonial policies of force implemented by the European country.

The Burkina Faso Army, led by its leader, Captain Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, amid insecurity, is engaged in fighting Islamic extremist groups affiliated with the Al-Qaeda network and the Islamic State in this territory.
