The IPS announced that it would expand its range of punishments if the inmates continue their protests, to which they responded that they will intensify the mobilization, which will lead to an indefinite hunger strike at the end of this month.
The Supreme Committee for Prisoners’ Emergency, which brings together representatives of all the Palestinian factions,stated: “We continue the fight to combat the hate campaign directed against us by the far-right Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir and “Our main cause and fundamental demand is freedom.
The movement was launched on February 14th in the Nahfa prison, where the authorities took retaliatory measures, including cutting off hot water in showers in the middle of the winter.
The following day the campaign had spread to the prisons of Raymon, Ofer, Megiddo, Gilboa and Negev, where the inmates began a campaign of disobedience, which included boycotting security checkpointsas reported by the Palestinian Prisoners Club.
Over 4,700 Palestinians are imprisoned in Israel, according to official sources.
