The objective of the group was to carry out a solidarity visit, but Israel Defense Forces denied them enrance to Hawara, without explaining the reasons, the Arutz Sheva news portal reported.
Alon-Lee Green, one of the organizers of the visit, protested on Twitter at the measure taken by the militaries.
“The settlers are allowed everything, but solidarity is prohibited,” the activist denounced. The NGO Standing Together, one of the sponsors of the event, made a similar statement.
“This is nothing less than crazy: we are more than 500 Jews and Arabs on our way to a solidarity visit to Hawara coordinated with the local council and the residents of the settlement. However, the Army informed us that we are not allowed to enter the town, while the settlers travel freely there. That’s odd. Pogrom yes and solidarity no?” it condemned.
