According to a parliamentary investigation, the United States currently controls some 400 dual-use biological laboratories in several countries, which constitutes a clear violation of international conventions in this regard, the official said.

US laboratories represent a threat to the population of the country that hosts them, but also to others, since infectious diseases know no borders, she stressed.

The nations that host these laboratories risk or have already lost their biological sovereignty by not knowing what happens in those facilities, Popova said.

The Russian Defense Ministry revealed earlier that the United States spent more than $200 million on its secret laboratories in Ukraine, which were part of the biological weapons program of the Pentagon.

The institution also revealed that after the start of the Russian military operation in February 2022, the Americans interrupted their secret programs there and are currently moving their experiments to Central Asia and Europe.
