Armed men burned down the police facilities and parking-lot, in addition to taking control of the area.
“The Kenscoff commune is delivered into the hands of thugs. Armed gangs kill, kidnap and loot peaceful citizens´ belongings. What is worse, they even manage to set fire to Fort-Jacques sub-commission”, former Fort-Jacques Deputy Alfredo Antoine said.
Media outlets attributed the incidents to the Kraze baryè armed gang, led by Vitelhomme Innocent, which is presently increasing its control over several areas of the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.
Kraze baryè armed gang also attacked on the Pernier sub-commissariat at the end of January, but hours later it was recovered by the police.
Gang violence has soared in Haiti since the assassination of then-President Jovenel Moïse. Over 2,000 murders and 1,000 kidnappings were reported in 2022.
