Chile: MINSAL reports over 2,000K Covid-19 cases, 20 deaths

Santiago de Chile, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Chile´s Health Ministry (MINSAL) on Thursday reported as many as 2,840 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and 20 deaths.

According to MINSAL’s daily report, there has been a 25.9% increase in coronavirus infection toll nationwide in the last week.

Chile´s Covid-19 positivity rate also rose, so the country´s overall toll stands at 12.23% nationwide and in the Metropolitan Region (13.07%).

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, as many as 5,172,90 million Chileans have been infected with SARS-CoV-2.

MINSAL informed that 82 patients are admitted in ICUs, 63 of them are receiving life support.

Adding 20 new deaths, Chile´s overall death toll climbed to 64,197.

Plus, MINSAL said that as from Thursday, all people aged over 18 will be able to receive the bivalent vaccine dose, provided that they have to receive the four corresponding doses.

Such doses, which is also effective against Omicron variant, will be applied annually in order to keep population more protected.
