Addressing the beginning of the 141st ordinary session of Congress, the head of State highlighted the work developed by his Government during 2022, marking the 40 years of the Falkland War.
The war between the Argentine and British forces started on April 2, 1982, and ended on June 14 of that year, in which 650 Argentinians and 255 British soldiers died in the hostilities.
In 2022, we reiterated our will to find a negotiated and peaceful solution to the dispute to recover sovereignty over that part of our territory, usurped by the United Kingdom, Fernández said.
The president also thanked for the support from countries, regions, and international forums.
It is a national cause that calls and mobilizes the people. For all survivors of the war and in memory of our heroes, we say once again: the Falkland Islands had been, still are, and will continue to be part of Argentina, he said.
The Constitution of Argentina ratifies its legitimate and imprescriptible sovereignty over the Falkland, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces.
