Belarus claims unprecedented pressure on CSTO

Minsk, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is lately experiencing unprecedented pressure from the West, Belarussian Defense Minister Viktor Jrenin said today. The Minister, who is leading the meeting of the heads of international cooperation of the Armed Forces of the CSTO states taking place in Minsk, said this pressure is aimed at imposing the Western model on the foreign policy of the post-Soviet space.

Belarus during its presidency of the CSTO will make efforts to reduce tensions and increase the level of mutual trust between the member countries, Jrenin told his colleagues.

We will work to reduce the potential for conflict through joint actions of the member states, as well as to solve crisis situations and prevent possible destabilization in the organization’s area of responsibility, the Belarussian minister said.

During the meeting, the priority directions of the republic’s presidency in the CSTO in 2023 were also announced, with the goals of increasing the preparation of forces, strengthening military-technical cooperation and improving the capacity of information analysis, Jrenin concluded.
