Amir-Abdollahian reaffirmed his country’s commitment to promoting the signing of an agreement to revive the JCPOA, as he confirmed to Baghdad authorities a few days earlier, he said in an interview with Al-Alam.
The foreign minister stressed that during his official visit to the Iraqi capital last week, he received a message from the United States to Iran conveyed by his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on February 22 in which the United States declares itself ready to reach an agreement.
“We are ready to finalize an agreement that secures the interests of all parties involved and respects the lines within the framework of the negotiations held in Vienna and the messages exchanged through mediators with the US side,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
Twenty-two months following the start of talks aimed at reviving the JCPOA and removing the sanctions imposed on Iran, the agreement is facing an uncertain future due to Washington’s refusal to guarantee that it will not abandon the deal once it has been signed.
