We continue mobilizating against Ben Gvir, Minister of National Security, according tov a statement by the Supreme Emergency Committee of Prisoners.

“Our major cause and critical demand is freedom, and here we are banging on the walls of our cells and raising our voices,” the statement added.

In response to the protest, Israel´s Prison Service officials informed the Committee they would tighten punitive measures against inmates who, in turn, vowed to continue protesting.

The protest was launched on February 14 at Nahfa Prison, where officials took some retaliatory measures including cutting off hot water service in the bathrooms amid a killing winter.

The protest campaign spread next day to Raymon, Ofer, Megiddo, Gilboa and Negev prisons, where inmates disobeied, boycotting security checks.

More than 4,700 Palestinians are behind bars in Israeli prisons, according to official sources.
