In an exclusive interview with Antena 3 from Kiev, Sánchez said that he responded to the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for Spain’s support during his EU presidency in the second half of 2023.
During the conversation with Antena 3, and also separately with other Spanish media such as RTVE and Cadena SER, the Spanish president pointed out that he would analyze Ukraine’s legitimate request for air assistance “according to the military capabilities available to the Ministry of Defense and in coordination with allied countries within the EU.”
At the same time, he reaffirmed the determination of the Executive he heads to send ten Leopard tanks, all within the framework of “defensive military tasks,” as Ukraine has pledged.
Meanwhile, Sanchez pointed out that Spain, at present and as a future president of the community bloc, would be attentive to the steps initiated by China to establish a peace plan to end the war with Russia.
