Kishida expressed his deep sadness upon learning of the tragedy that occurred in the state of São Paulo, which caused dozens of deaths and forced evacuation of thousands of people.
“I would like to express my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families on behalf of the government and people of Japan. My condolences go out to those affected and I sincerely pray for the speedy reconstruction of the affected areas,” the letter said.
Last weekend a storm hit Sao Paulo with rainfall that exceeded the level expected for the whole of February in the cities of the northern coast, the Civil Defense reported.
According to local authorities, to date, the number of deaths has risen to 50, while 38 people remain missing other 16 are hospitalized and 4,066 have been left homeless.
