According to Paraguay´s Coordinator for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CDIA), as many as 17,156 sexual violence cases in people aging zero to 17 years of age.
The research revealed that a sexual violence complaint has been made every two hours in the last five years.
The report specified that as many as 3,197 sexual abuse reports have been made in 2018, 3,846 in 2019, 3,021 in 2020, 3,288 in 2021, and 3,804 in 2022.
The CDIA detailed girls aging 10 to 13 years are considered as major victims.
The Última Hora newspaper has reported that sexual violence on children and adolescents includes non-consensual sexual contact and acts of human trafficking for sexual purposes committed against someone who cannot give consent or refuse.
The CDIA pointed out these acts constitute a serious violation of human rights, but it is a reality in various forms such as sexual abuse, harassment, rape or sexual exploitation in prostitution or pornography.
