The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali reported on social networks that the attack took place on Monday in the Bandiagara region, where UN forces and troops from the military of Mali are fighting Islamic extremist groups.
Radical groups linked to the Al-Qaeda network, such as the Islamic State of Great Sahara frequently attack UN detachments in Mali, where a military junta governs, especially resorting to placing IEDs on roads.
According to recent data from the United Nations, 165 peacekeepers have been violently killed in Malian territory from July 2013 to date, while another 687 have been wounded, the Africa News website reported.
