According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the second group (consisting of 63 members) will leave tomorrow and replace the first Japanese disaster-management contingent currently operating in Gaziantep. Health workers will also take over from their fellow countrymen in carrying out humanitarian work.
To date, Japan has sent 74 first responders, 75 health workers and some units of the Japan Self-Defense Forces to Türkiye. It also supplied tents, blankets, mats and other emergency items.”Japan will continue to provide seamless and effective assistance to the extent possible for the recovery and reconstruction of Türkiye,” the official statement said.
On February 18th, the government of Fumio Kishida also announced a grant worth 8.5 million dollars to alleviate the consequences of the quakes.
