The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement highlighting how the support of the African Union (AU) was reflected in the final declaration of the recent summit of the bloc, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where African leaders rejected Israel’s request to obtain observer status in the AU.
The ministry expressed its pride in the historical relations between the Palestinian people and those of the African continent and quote:”They have always supported the struggle to achieve our rights, especially self-determination, the end of the occupation, the dismantlement of the Israeli colonies and its apartheid regime.
Precisely, the final declaration of the AU summit reassured the region’s full support for the Palestinian people. It also called for the resumption of a credible political process to end the Israeli occupation and dismantle that regime in order to achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.
