On the Lebquake application, the institute confirmed that the four-magnitude tremor on the Richter scale is an aftershock following Monday evening’s seismic activity in the Turkish province of Hatay and ruled out any panic over a possible tsunami in Lebanon.
Through a statement, the Center explained that aftershocks may occur after a big earthquake and called on citizens not to panic about the danger of tsunami waves, according to the early warning system in the Mediterranean.
On Monday, residents of the capital city and northern Lebanon took to the streets again when they felt seismic movements due to two earthquakes measuring 6.4 and 5.3 that shook the Turkish-Syrian border region.
