Dominican United Left leader satisfied with agenda in Vietnam

Hanoi, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) Miguel Mejía, Secretary General and founder of the United Left Movement (MIU) of the Dominican Republic, said on Tuesday he was satisfied with the diverse, broad, and prolific agenda developed in Vietnam so far.

Mejia analyzed the activities developed since his arrival in this nation on Saturday during a meeting with Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), in which, as he told Prensa Latina, both officials expressed their satisfaction in this regard.

The MIU leader explained that his visit here is not only to address party issues but also others of interest to the Dominican State.

In this sense, the secretary general revealed that during a meeting with executives of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, he requested their contribution to undertake exploration works in areas where the possible existence of oil has been determined.

We also talked with executives of Viglacera Corporation, a construction materials company in Vietnam, who has repeatedly visited the Dominican Republic to establish themselves there and begin production, so we are creating the conditions, he added.

Mejía, who is also a Minister for Regional Integration Policies, said he was the bearer of a message from Dominican President Luis Abinader to the Military Industry and Telecoms Corporation (VIETTEL), urging it to return to the Caribbean nation.
