According to a dispatch issued by the Burkina Faso Army, which initially reported eight soldiers dead after an ambush by extremists, the armed clashes occurred in Desou and Oursi, in Oudalan province.
The military body indicated in the document that the troops would continue operations against terrorist groups, who have recently suffered several casualties.
A military junta, headed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, governs this African territory where two coups d’état took place, one in January 2022 and the other in September of that same year.
The people of Burkina Faso suffers from insecure conditions following the attacks in this territory in 2015 by armed extremist groups, including Boko Haram, the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, and the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims.
