Presidents Zelensky and Biden meet behind closed doors in Kiev

Biden-Zelenski-500x333
Kiev, Feb 20 (Prensa Latina) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his counterpart from the United States, Joe Biden, met behind closed doors at the Marinski Palace in Kiev, the press service of the Ukrainian presidency reported on Monday.

Shortly before the meeting, Zelensky pointed out that he intended to discuss the situation with Biden on the line of contact and other issues concerning the supply of Western weapons.

A few hours earlier, Ukrainian media had reported on mass traffic jams in downtown Kiev.

Several suppositions were made on why the roads were blocked, including the disputed version about Biden’s arrival. However, his visit was not announced.

On Monday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba refused to travel to Brussels to attend a meeting of the European Union (EU)’s foreign ministers, where the regional bloc’s military support for Kiev was expected to be under discussion. It was Biden’s first visit to Ukraine since he took office.
