According to the Brazilian Civil Defense, the volume of rainfall in the last 24 hours exceeded what was expected for all of February in three of the four cities on the north coast (Sao Sebastião, Ilhabela, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba), a region heavily affected by rain.
The Sao Paulo government confirmed that due to inclement weather, more than 550 people had to leave their homes on the coast, while 228 people were left homeless.
