This ministry added that the Mosi II maneuvers is a platform for the three nations to share military knowledge, skills, and operational experiences, demonstrating by this that Moscow is not isolated as touted by the West.
During the exercise, the three navies will combine their operational naval systems and enhance joint command and control systems.
These drills, off the coast of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, between the ports of Durban and Richards Bay in the Indian Ocean, will be held until February 27.
Russia is represented by the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the medium-sized sea tanker Kama while China’s participation involves a destroyer, a frigate, and an auxiliary vessel. The South African Navy includes a frigate and two auxiliary ships.
It is the second trilateral drill between South Africa, Russia, and China. The first maneuver took place off South Africa’s southwestern Atlantic coast near Cape Town in November 2019. jrr/iff/jcm/gfa
