At the event, held at the headquarters of Municipio VII in Rome, Cuban Ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda, stressed the importance of the evening for allowing to know the experiences and ideas of one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States for many years.
Granda thanked those present for their participation, as well as the authorities of Municipio VII for enabling this meeting with Guerrero, who is currently the president of the National Union of Architects and Engineers of Cuba.
Guerrero pointed out that this is his second visit to Italy. The first one was in May 2015, shortly after his release from prison in the United States in December 2014, where he was held for 16 years.
He stated that the story of the five Cuban heroes shows that victory is possible even in the worst conditions. In order to achieve it, values, patriotism, and unity in the struggle to reach the objectives are important.
In the introduction of the event, Ricardo Sbordoni, culture advisor of Municipio VII in Rome, referred to the high significance of the meeting with Guerrero, a hero of a country that is an essential reference due to the humanism and solidarity inherent to its revolutionary process.
