Elisa Pedro, president of the Angolan League of Friendship and Solidarity with the Peoples (LAASP), told the press she´d rather describe the setting as a classroom open to knowledge than use the ¨meeting¨ term.
The major issue was support for Cuba subject to longest and most hostile economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the association of former Angolan students in Cuba (the Caimaneros) and the Association of Angolan Pre-Cadets and Cadets (Assopreca), as well as Cuban Ambassador Esther Armenteros and diplomats.
Elisa Pedro and Agostinho Narciso, the Caimaneros President, narrated valuable social initiatives that both organizations are presently conducting in Angola in favor of young people, job openings and assistance to needy families.
Narciso also recalled the Caimaneros´ solidarity campaign to send donations to Cuba following the passage of a life-threatening hurricane in 2022.
ICAP Vice President Víctor Gaute, on the other hand, praised historical brotherhood and fraternity relations between the two peoples, as well as relations with MPLA party and the Government.
