For the first house of higher studies founded by the Cuban Revolution, scientific work goes beyond personal improvement to become a priority objective of a program that ‘although affected by the pandemic, continues with good results’, according to its rector, Santiago Lajes.
The Santa Cecilia Convention Center witnessed the post-graduate graduation, ‘a strategic issue for the development of the nation’, said Lajes.
Within the Education and Sports Sciences programs, the graduate doctor, José Ramón Morejón, director of the Camagüey team in the Cuban Soccer Championship, and with experience as physical trainer of the national squads of lower categories, stood out.
The event was also an opportunity for the Higher Education Ministry to recognize the institution’s professionals, whose research and scientific contributions help the prosperity of Cuban society, said Olga Lidia Pérez, Doctor of Science.
In January of this year, the celebration of a new graduation of more than 1,400 professionals by the University of Camagüey, filled with pride the first center of its kind founded by the Cuban Revolution in 1967.
Over five decades and five years, the Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz University of Camagüey has graduated more than 85 000 students from all continents, and its work is essential in the training of professionals with a decisive role in Cuban society.
