At the regular morning press conference of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at the National Palace, the director of the agency gave a detailed report on the medical contingent hired by the Government within the collaboration agreements with Cuba in the IMSS-Bienestar healthcare plan.
Robledo noted that Nayarit is the state where they are most concentrated, among other things because it was the first region where the new plan began.
The IMSS head pointed out that 88 physicians are working in Colima, 72 in Oaxaca, 58 in Sonora and Campeche, 47 in Baja California Sur, 29 in Guerrero and Michoacan, 19 in Veracruz and 15 in Morelos and Zacatecas.
He added that 83 hospitals are already run by the IMSS-Bienestar program with the participation of the Cuban professionals.
Robledo presented the report because two different figures had been given regarding the number of institutions where the Cuban doctors are present, but in reality, they are working in a dozen states.
He pointed out that they mainly internists, pediatricians, general surgeons, ophthalmologists and cardiologists.
