Cuba and Algeria to hold Intergovernmental Commission’s meeting

Havana, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba-Algeria Intergovernmental Commission will start its sessions on Monday with a broad working program that includes a Business Forum, among other events.

The meeting, which will last until February 15, is part of the agreements reached during Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s visit to Algeria.

Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrizas, and Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Marmierca will chair the sessions.

In November 2022, Diaz-Canel and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune agreed to boost economic, commercial, financial, and cooperation ties.

One of the commitments was to hold this Joint Commission’s meeting, to be attended by more than 100 Algerian investors to examine business opportunities.

At the time, both presidents identified areas of common interest, including health care, energy, renewable energy sources, the medical-pharmaceutical industry, and cultural-educational and scientific-technological collaboration.

Tebboune also informed the decision to cancel Cuba’s debt services, postpone repayment, and offer a solar power plant.
