Cuba’s representation competed in indoor soccer, skit, table tennis, and Russian billiards, with diplomats from more than 20 countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Colombia, Indonesia, Venezuela, Israel, Egypt, Senegal, Kenya, and Ghana, as opponents.
At the opening of the event, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova read out a message sent by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who thanked the participants “for their important contribution to maintaining the spirit of cooperation and an atmosphere of trust among peoples, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.”
“It is another opportunity to show that we are all different, we have different views, traditions, worldviews, and philosophies, but there are things that unite us; it is sports,” the spokeswoman read.
The culmination of the competitions was an ice hockey match for the Cup of the 21st Winter Diplomatic Gatmes, where the hockey players of the Russian Foreign Ministry team and the Ghostbusters team, including actors Pyotr Kislov, Alexander Fisenko, and Ivan Mulin, and singer Kirill Andreev, among other artists, played.
