“The corrupt government of Guillermo Lasso and his allies want to steal democracy from Ecuadorians”, Assembly woman Ana María Raffo, from the Union for Hope bench, wrote on Twitter.
On Thursday night, the vice president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Enrique Pita, denounced the existence of a “parallel computer center” managed by the director of the Guayas provincial delegation.
Faced with this situation, the CNE urgently called a press conference and the head of that body, Diana Atamaint, reported that she asked the Prosecutor’s Office to carry out investigations into the matter.
One of the observers of last Sunday’s elections, Alejandro Tullio, spoke out and described the fact as “surprising”. “It is strange because the way it is described it would not be of any use since the minutes completed and signed in the venues are digitized and scanned,” the observer said.
The Citizen Revolution issued a statement and explained that the searched place is one of its computer centers where they receive copies of the minutes, as political subjects protected by the Code of Democracy.
They denounced the irruption in that place of subjects dressed in civilian clothes and indicated that they will take measures against this outrage that seeks to silence those who reject the government, said the political movement.
