G20 Environment Working Group meets in India

New Delhi, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) The first meeting of the G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group under the Indian presidency will be taking place during the next three days in Bengaluru, capital of the state of Karnataka, in the south of the country.

The additional secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Richa Sharma, informed media outlets, that the main issues on the agenda will be related to biodiversity.

Soil degradation and loss of biodiversity, marine pollution, conservation of mangroves and coral reefs are some of the central areas of deliberations at the event.

Delegates will visit the town of Kalkere and Bannerghatta National Park to showcase the reforestation model adopted by India.

More than 142 delegates from G20 member countries, the European Union, 25 representatives from 10 invited nations and 21 from international organizations will be meeting during the event.
