Türk will meet this Wednesday and Thursday with representatives of the State, the Office of Citizen Protection, security forces and the judiciary branch.
He also expects to hold meetings with victims of human rights violations and civil organizations.
Türk will also visit Ouanaminthe, a city in the northeast of the country, where he will meet with local authorities and several platforms, according to his office in Geneva.
The High Commissioner’s trip comes at a time of the worsening of the multifaceted crisis in the country, plagued by armed groups controling vast areas of Port-au-Prince and amidst an increase in the number of kidnappings and killings.
According to UN data, in 2022, more than 2,000 people were killed, 1,000 were deprived of their freedom, and about 155,000 were forced to flee from their homes due to violence.
