Szijjarto met in Belgrade with Serbian Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic.
Our goal is to diversify the sources of energy supply, and it is necessary to increase the flow of gas from Azerbaijan in cooperation with Hungary, Djedovic said.
Szijjarto stated that the two countries managed to overcome the hydrocarbon crisis caused by the war in Ukraine thanks to cooperation.
In order to double Azerbaijan’s gas imports, new pipelines are needed to be built so as to expand the existing ones, Szijjarto said, adding that Hungary is open to further negotiations on importing gas from Azerbaijan through Serbia.
Azerbaijan and Hungary signed a joint declaration on an enhanced strategic partnership in January, with energy at the top of the agenda.
