Upon arriving at Bamako airport, Lavrov was received by his Malian counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop, with whom he will also hold an official meeting.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lavrov will also meet with the acting president of Mali, Assimi Goita, with whom he will discuss future Russian exports of cereals, fertilizers and petroleum derivatives.
Lavrov will also address the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields, as well as the intensification of interaction in various promising fields such as exploitation of mineral resources, geological prospecting, energy, infrastructure and agriculture.
The development of cooperation between the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies of both countries will also be addressed, including the training of Malian soldiers in academies of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior of Russia.
Current international and regional issues will also be discussed in depth, with emphasis on the repercussions of the conflict in Ukraine and the fight against terrorism in the Sahel and West Africa.
