Israel is accused of mass arrests in Palestinian areas

Ataques-Palestinos-500x281
Ramallah, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) Qadri Abu Baker, chairman of the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, denounced on Tuesday the policy of mass arrests practiced by the Israeli security forces, which he described as barbaric.

Governments, international bodies, parliaments, institutions, and trade unions globally must put pressure on Tel Aviv to end its practices, he said in a dispatch.

Abu Baker criticized the systematic army and police attacks on cities, towns, and refugee camps.

Several sources state that some 4,700 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails, many of which are under the administrative detention policy.

Tel Aviv uses this mechanism to arrest Palestinians for renewable intervals that usually range from three to six months based on undisclosed evidence that even the defendant’s lawyer is forbidden to see.
