Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani charged that more than ten years of war have led that neighboring nation to a chaotic situation, worsened after the earth tremor.
“The important thing is that different countries should exert pressure on the US Government to lift the cruel sanctions imposed on Syria. The international humanitarian aid should be delivered to the population without any obstacles and as soon as possible,” Kanaani stressed in an interview with Mehr.
We hope that the international community will send humanitarian aid quickly and effectively to the two countries, especially to Syria, a country facing special conditions, he said.
On Monday, US State Department Spokesman Ned Price tried to justify to the press Washington’s lack of aid to Syria while sending substantial support to Turkey, which is also suffering enormous devastation due to the earthquake.
