Gerardo Houdayer and Ivan Claveria, vice president and president, respectively of UNEAC’s radio, film and television section, praised the imprint left on the culture of Latin America and the world by the writer, who was born in the municipality of San Luis and was the author of ‘El derecho de nacer’ (The Right to Be Born), a work that became a paradigm.
They insisted that countries like Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Türkiye use the formula provided by Felix B. Caignet in television installments so much in vogue today and marked by sentimental conflicts in which good and evil fight in each episode.
The contest will take place from March 28 to 31 to extend the days until May 15, which was the day of his death, with a cultural program that evokes him in all its dimension, Houdayer and Clavería pointed out.
As part of the honor to Caignet, a room that bears his name works at the provincial radio station CMKC and is a permanent inspiration for radio production.
TV Director Jesus (Chucho) Cabrera, recently deceased, will be one of the remembered personalities, mainly with his police series ‘En silencio ha tenido que ser’, as well as the filmmaker Nilda Garcia from Santiago, who trained generations of filmmakers and radio directors.
The director of the Cuban Cinematheque, Luciano Castillo, will give a conference and will share several days with participants.
