Danis Zumaquero, third secretary in charge of Scientific and Technical Affairs of that diplomatic representation, indicated that the opening event took place at the Leopoldo Pirelli High School, with the participation of GA coordinator Maddalena Patrizi, and included a cultural activity.
This year, the Cuban diplomatic mission advises 16 students who will simulate a Global Action Model United Nations (GAMUN) in four different commissions during the final stage of the program.
Among them are those of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the UN Security Council.
The Cuban Embassy has been participating in this initiative since its third edition.
The source pointed out that it advised students from the Vittoria Colonna State High School in 2022, who were second at the embassy level and won two individual awards as best delegates in the UNHCR and World Health Organization commissions.
