On his Twitter account, Hernández revealed U.S. spy planes flew over the Flight Information Region (FIR Maiquetía), “disrespecting international agreements. Cynicism is really not enough!”, he pointed out.
Hernández’s message responded to a tweet from Vladimir Padrino, Venezuelan Minister of Defense, who on Sunday described the US attitude as cynical in shooting down a Chinese civilian balloon.
Is the United States talking about respect for its airspace? the Vice-President for Political Sovereignty, Security and Peace asked ironically. Hernández pointed out that Venezuela “has witnessed the systematic provocation and violation by U.S. air and maritime means, forcing us to intercept and expel them, what a cynicism!
On Sunday, the Venezuelan Government condemned the Pentagon’s attack against an unmanned Chinese balloon.
A statement said the balloon “had shown a technical failure and that it did not represent any military or physical threat against people on the ground”.
The Bolivarian Republic, committed to the values of the United Nations Charter and Peace Diplomacy, ratified its strict adherence to dialogue for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and healthy coexistence among nations and peoples.
