Bolivia will take action against climate crisis

Luis-Arce-Bolivia-300x225
La Paz, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Luis Arce assured today in Oruro that the Government will build dams and solar tents to favor agricultural production amid the climatic effects suffered by this sector.

“The climate crisis is affecting not only Bolivia, but the entire region and the world. It is the third year that the region is facing the effect of La Niña. The world is changing and for that you have to prepare,” Arce said this Friday during the delivery ceremony of 30 housing units in the municipality of Santiago de Andamarca.

According to the dignitary, the climate crisis affects and changes the production cycle, for which a series of response and contingency actions must be taken.

Given this scenario, he maintained that his Administration will work on two aid projects for the agricultural sector: one for the construction of dams and water wells, and another for solar tents in highlands to ensure production and food sovereignty.

He indicated that the objective “is not to continue depending on the rain to have water, both for irrigation and human consumption. That is why we will enter the dam construction cycle to have reserves. And the tents will serve to counteract the frosts”, specified the head of state.

In the context of the program that he is fulfilling in the department of Oruro for the 242 years of the libertarian feat of that territory, the president delivered this Friday 30 housing units in the municipality of Santiago de Andamarca. Located in the Sur Carangas province, this project required an investment of close to two million bolivianos (285 thousand dollars) for the benefit of 150 people in the region.

The construction of these houses began in September 2021 and generated about 40 direct jobs and more than 70 indirect jobs, reported Arce.

“Every time we deliver more homes to solve the housing problem in Bolivia,” he said. He expressed satisfaction with this result and promised to continue the construction and delivery of houses for the people of Oruro and Bolivians.

During the act, which was attended by national legislators and territorial authorities, the residents of Santiago de Andamarca reiterated their gratitude to the president and his government.
