Since the Sandinista Executive returned to power in 2007, a group of strategies that dignify the lives of women in both urban and rural areas has been implemented in this country.
One of the most recent actions is to implement a legal instrument to prevent feminicide in Nicaragua, which reflects the Executive’s political will to deepen women’s dignity.
Several institutions as the Ministries of Women, Family, Education and the Women’s and Children’s Police Station of the National Police, among others, supported the initiative.
According to Carlos Emilio Hurtado, a lawmaker of the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament), the new document ratifies women’s full recognition as human beings with capacities, rights, and duties that deserve respect.
