On Twitter, the Cuban foreign minister appealed to data provided by the Oxfam non-governmental organization, unveiling that “since 2020, for every dollar earned by a person in the world´s 90% poorest, a billionaire pockets .7 million”, while adding “the wealth received by the 1% richest of global population is 74 times greater than that received by the 50% poorest in the last 10 years.”
Such a situation has also been criticized by a great number of international organizations and bodies, warning of worsening inequalities even more during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Contrary to what might be expected, when the Covid-19 pandemic forced most of the world economy to stop -throwing hundreds of millions of people into poverty, not a few families controling major resources and industries in many countries multiplied their wealth.
