The visit to Moscow is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.
According to the source, Shoukry will review the progress made in the implementation of Egyptian-Russian cooperation projects with various Egyptian officials, including his counterpart Sergei Lavrov; the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Denis Manturov, and the Secretary of the Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev.
In addition, both sides will consult and exchange views on various international and regional issues of common interest, including the conflict in Ukraine, Abu Zeid said.
In July 2022, Lavrov met Shoukry as part of his tour in Africa.
The main cooperation project between the two countries is the construction of the Dabaa nuclear plant, on the Egyptian Mediterranean coast. It will be the first of its kind in Egypt, to generate electricity using Russian technology.
The plant will have four VVER-1200 pressurized water nuclear reactors, each with a power of 1,200 megawatts.
According to official data, trade between the two nations reached 4,7 billion dollars in 2021.
